Advanced Expert Probe
Real-Time and Post-Capture Expert Analysis Processed Remotely for Distributed
Networks (LAN,
802.11a/b/g, Gigabit, WAN)
Expert Data Processing and Packet Captures for Faster Troubleshooting and Analysis on any Remote Network
To make network monitoring and troubleshooting faster, easier, and most of all uncomplicated, Network Instruments has created the Advanced Expert Probe. This probe offers all the technology and functionality of our award-winning Advanced Multi-Probes with the essential benefit of being able to perform packet captures and decodes as well as vital Expert Analysis at the probe level.
• Troubleshoot Remote Networks Faster
• View Expert Analysis in Real-Time or Post-Capture
• Condense Unwanted Network Traffic Instantly
• View Real-Time Statistics
• Keep Long-Term Trending and Baselining Data
• Full Support of LAN, WAN, 802.11a/b/g and Gigabit Networks

Faster Expert Analysis at Remote Locations
With Expert Probes all Expert analysis and Expert processing is completed at the individual probe level and only the results (i.e. updated screens) are transferred to the local console. Real-time Expert Analysis can occur over long periods of time at remote locations greatly reducing network traffic. This offers faster troubleshooting and a quicker breakdown of critical issues.
Decode Displays Real-Time Screen Updates, Not Raw Packets
With packet capture and decode, only small groups of packet headers are transferred to the console. When a full decode is desired, administrators simply click on the packet header to instantly review the decode in real-time. The entire decode is not transmitted over the wire, only screen updates – allowing for quicker review of key data without any impacts to the network. Just as Observer offers the ability to review remote trending files locally, that capability is now available with remote buffer files.
Local Analysis and Administration
The Advanced Expert Probe reports back to any Expert Observer or Observer Suite console located anywhere on the network. It also acts as a local console, offering complete onsite analysis and administration. This unique built-in console functionality not only makes the Advanced Expert Probe a fully-featured local analyzer, it also allows it to function as a console for other remotely-installed Network Instruments Probes.
Supports all Network Topologies
Like all of Network Instruments products, the Expert Probe is applicable for all network topologies (LAN, 802.11a/b/g, Gigabit, WAN).
